PARTNERSHIPS

Although Dr Chang worked in Australia for most of his career, he always kept close ties with Asia, and particularly his country of birth, China.

He realised how lucky he was to study and work in Australia under the mentorship of other great surgeons such as Harry Windsor and Mark Shanahan. He was determined to ensure that surgeons and practitioners in his field of medicine from Asia were given the same opportunities.

Sharing expertise was one way that he and other heart surgeons, and their team, from Australia, could make a major contribution and at the same time encourage and increase cross-cultural awareness and mutual understanding between Australia and Asia. These were the driving forces behind the establishment of the Foundation.
